Current role and responsibilities
Johan is an independent consultant and assuror of corporate
strategy, management systems, codes of conduct and reports in the field of
environment, sustainability, social responsibility and safety. He also operates
as a “responsible entrepreneur” himself.
Prior roles and responsibilities
Johan Piet worked as certified public accountant since 1972,
specialised in the field of environment, sustainability and social
responsibility, formerly director at Deloitte & Touche Environmental Services
and KPMG Sustainability, presently independent working for TranspaRAbility, a
specialised accountancy firm. He was part-time professor
since 1979 at several universities, lecturing in the accountancy and in
environmental management. He was the founder and first director/professor of the Institute
for Environmental Management (WIMM) at the University of Amsterdam during the
period 1989 until 1995.
Johan is recognised as one of the founders of theory and
practice of “environmental accountancy” and “sustainability reporting”.
